The High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination results in Assam were out last week, following which there has been a lot of concerns around the performance of students and the role of teachers in the same. The results were declared through the website of SEBA.
“We have sent show cause notice to schools with zero pass percentage in HSLC. There are many private schools as well who have been not able to perform.”, said Assam Education Minster Dr. Ranoj Pegu to the media. This was in reply to the query by mediapersons.
He added, “One may put forward several reasons of not being able to perform. There are many causes for government servants that need to be addressed. Be it elections or natural disasters. There is no relation between performance and assigned duties in other fields. (Sic.) “
He further added, “We have taken steps to improve the quality of education in government schools across Assam. It is hopeful that we be able to see more of discipline and punctuality for the same.”
There have been times when government schools in Assam have not been able to live up to the expectations, which adds to concerns around the future of students as well. The discussions around this subject also prevail in the society at large.
