NDA’s Presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu arrives in Agartala on Tuesday.
Draupadi Murmu meets MPs and legislators of the ruling BJP and its ally IPFT, Tripura Assembly Speaker Ratan Chakraborty said.
In Tripura total 60 MLA in legislative assembly , 2 Lok Sabha MP and 1 Rajya Sabha member. The ruling BJP has 36 MLAs while its ally, the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura, has a strength of seven legislators. The BJP has two Lok Sabha MPs and one Rajya MP ( which is now vacant because Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha who is the now elected Assembly by election which was held on June). Dr Saha already resigned from Rajya Sabha on Monday. The number of CPI(M) MLAs is 15 and the Congress has one legislator.
The Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Verma and Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik welcomed Murmu at the airport on Tuesday.
The Presidential Election will be held on July 18.
