As per the direction of the Election Commission of India, a function was organized on Monday by the District Election officer of 124 Number Margherita LAC for the formal launch of new user-friendly Electoral registration forms in the conference hall of the Block Development office, Margherita.
Palash Rajkumar Ahom, DEO briefed the attendees about the amendments in the RP Act 1950 by the Ministry of Law & Justice on recommendations of the ECI and apprised them about the four qualifying dates as eligibility for new electors i.e. 1st January, 1st April, 1st July and 1st October and voluntary linking of the Aadhar with the Voter Id. The DEO stressed that the BLOs play a very important role at the grass root level and understanding the changes is crucial for the correct input of all the relevant data of the citizens. He asked the BLOs, AEROs and EROs to sensitize themselves to the new changes and additions in process of validation of the electors.
The DEO formally launched the four forms i.e. Form 6, 6B, 7, and 8 and distributed Form 6 & 6B among the AEROs and EROs. The DEO urged each one to do their bit in the successful summary revision of the electors.
The new electors can enroll themselves through mobile applications like NVSP, VHA or can seek help from the BLOs, as stated by the Aditi Neog, Election Officer, Margherita.
The program was followed by a training Session for the AEROs/BLO Supervisor/ BLO on ERONET, GARUDA, VHA voter portals in connection with the special summary revision-2023.
The formal launch program was attended by the Master Trainers, members of political parties, media persons from Margherita,civil society organizations, NGOs and young electors.
