Bihar politics turn interesting as CM Nitish Kumar has resigned hours after ending alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). CM Kumar held a meeting with all Janata Dal (United) MLAs earlier today, about the break-up with the saffron party.
“Nitish Kumar is aiming for 2024 elections”, said Jamui MP Chirag Paswan, reacting to the media queries. And interestingly, Nitish Kumar marched with Tejashwi Yadav to the Bihar Governor’s residence today, and seemingly to form a new government.
Kumar is a senior Indian politician and has been serving as the Chief Minister of Bihar since 2005. He has earlier served as the Union Cabinet Minister of Railways, Minister of Surface Transport and Minister for Agriculture.
It may be mentioned that, Bihar is located in the eastern part of the country (between 83°-30′ to 88°-00′ longitude). It is an entirely land–locked state, although the outlet to the sea through the port of Kolkata is not too far away.
Meanwhile, Bihar lies mid-way between the humid West Bengal in the east and the sub humid Uttar Pradesh in the west which provides it with a transitional position in respect of climate, economy and culture.
Geographically, it is bounded by Nepal in the north and by Jharkhand in the south. The Bihar plain is divided into two unequal halves by the river Ganga which flows through the middle from west to east.
