Sepoy Pawan Kumar Of 55 Rashtriya Rifles – 16 Grenadiers, made supreme sacrifice in an encounter in Awantipora, Pulwama District, South Kashmir.
One Terrorist was hiding in a Mosque. During a fierce firefight, while trying to maintain the sanctity of the Mosque from terrorists, Sepoy Pawan Kumar was injured and later succumbed to his injuries.
Two terrorists were eliminated in the encounter.
Sepoy Pawan Kumar was from Himachal Pradesh. He was just 26.
Shishu Pal, the father of the deceased jawan, said he was proud of his son sacrificing his life for the country.If I had more sons, I would have sent them to join the Army,” he added.
