BSF troops under South Bengal Frontier foiled the plans of smugglers and seized 1261 bottles of Phensedyl from their area of responsibility on the Indo-Bangladesh International Border. The estimated value of the seized Phensedyl bottles is Rs. 2,58,900/-.
The incident took place on March 11, 2023, in the area of BSF’s Border Out Post Panchberia and Sutiya, 107 Battalion. Acting on intelligence inputs, when the troops on duty noticed suspicious activity, they immediately cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. During the search, the smugglers in the vicinity fled, taking advantage of the thick darkness. On the spot, the troops recovered 250 bottles of Phensedyl and 74 bottles of Phensegrip at Border Out Post Panchberia, and 48 kg of Ganja at Border Out Post Sutia.
In other incidents, troops of Border Out Post Rangiapota, 82 Battalion, Border Out Post Dobarpada, 158 Battalion, Border Out Post Sasni, MSPur, and Mahadipur, seized a total of 937 bottles of Phensedyl from their area of responsibility.
The seized goods were handed over to the appropriate authorities for further legal action.
Expressing satisfaction over the success of the troops, the spokesperson of the South Bengal Frontier appreciated them a lot. He stated that this is only a reflection of the vigilance displayed by the BSF troops on duty. He urged people not to adopt the route of smuggling under any circumstances. He also stated firmly that BSF troops would not allow smuggling or any other type of crime to take place on the border and would not spare those involved in such activities.
