On May 11, 2023, around 1900 hrs, in the area of Border Outpost India–I, 117 Battalion, under South Bengal Frontier, an incident occurred. Saina Biwi, a 50-year-old woman from Bathan village, was working at her house when she suddenly started feeling unwell and dizzy.

The woman’s relatives sought help from the company commander, who wasted no time in sending a Nursing Assistant along with a BSF ambulance to her house. The woman was then admitted to the Government Hospital Rani Nagar, and her condition is now stable.

Toofan Sheikh, the woman’s husband, expressed his gratitude to the Border Security Force, stating that if the BSF jawans had not acted promptly, his wife’s health could have worsened further.

The Commanding Officer of 117 Battalion commended the BSF jawans for their humanitarian efforts. He stated that in addition to protecting the international border, the BSF jawans also serve the people with utmost devotion and responsibility. In any adverse situation, the youth stand by the people, shoulder to shoulder.
