There are 14 SoO camps in Manipur, which are being inhabited by Kuki militants who got into the tripartite SoO agreements with the Govt of India & Govt of Manipur.
These camps are spread across the State in Kuki-inhabited areas and includes Mt Senai, Harmon, Khambarol, Mongbung, S Nabil, New Phaisat, Chongkhazou, Phaibhathang, New Taikot, Songtal, Nathejang, Thingsat, T/Gamnoum & Ankhasoo camps.
In accordance with the instructions of enforcing the arrangement of Suspension of Operations being with the State, a verification-cum-inspection was undertaken jointly by the State Police Forces and Assam Rifles in quick succession since May 2023 to compel the cadres to ensure attendance across the camps.
In the series of surprise checks, last such check was undertaken on 03 June 23, wherein the overall attendance in the 14 camps was registered to be 58 %. Out of these, 02 camps presenting more than 80% , 08 camps with attendance between 50 – 80 % and only 04 camps with below 50% attendance. As far as the weapon state goes, only two weapons are missing with remaining being accounted for.
This proactive step will ensure preclusion of SoO cadres involvement in the ongoing violence.
