We regret to inform our esteemed fans and supporters that the much anticipated Derby match of the 133rd Durand Cup Group A fixture between Mohun Bagan Super Giant and East Bengal FC scheduled at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on Sunday, 18 August 2024 has been abandoded.
This has been done because of the inability of the state police to provide necessary security for the match due to other engagements.
Postponement of the match is not feasible due to the tight schedule of the tournament’s remaining fixtures. The options for moving the remaining fixtures to other venues may be considered based on evolving situation.
We understand the disappointment this may cause to the fans who have eagerly awaited this match. For those who have purchased online or offline tickets, refunds shall be provided, details of which would be updated on the official social media handles of Durand Cup.
A separate announcement giving further details would be made shortly.
