Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) rescued locals and families struck in Heavy Floods on 21 Aug 2024 in Irangband village of Kakching District of Manipur.
Assam Rifles coordinated with local population and district administration to locate the areas with high water level and help locals to reach secure places.
In one such effort, Assam Rifles rescued 6 members of the affected families and also shifted to safety the household items of 15 families from Irangband village of Kakching District on 21 August 2024, thereby cementing the faith of the local populace further strengthening the bond between local populace and SF and providing a sense of normalcy in the AoR.
ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTS WREATH LAYING CEREMONY FOR BRAVEHEARTS
Assam Rifles organized a wreath-laying ceremony to honour Rifleman (General Duty) Late Chandra Sekhar Singh of 4 Assam Rifles, who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.
On 17 August 1994, a patrol party from 4 Assam Rifles, comprising 3 Junior Commissioned Officers and 41 other ranks, was conducting a search operation along the Chassad-Imphal Road. At approximately 1000 hours, while searching the General Area RM 9401, the troops came under heavy fire from insurgents. Rifleman Chandra Sekhar Singh sustained a gunshot wound during the encounter and tragically succumbed to his injuries on 22 August 1994.
Assam Rifles paid tribute to this brave heart at the War Memorial, honouring his selfless dedication to the nation.
The ceremony commenced with the wreath laying and a motivational speech was delivered to all ranks narrating the story of the brave heart in the service of nation. A total of Two Officers, Three Junior Commissioned Officers and 42 Other Ranks of Assam Rifles paid tribute by laying wreath & according Guard of Honour.
ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTS MEDICAL CAMP AND FRIENDLY VOLLEYBALL MATCH IN MANIPUR
Assam Rifles conducted a comprehensive outreach program in Chandel District, Manipur, encompassing both medical assistance and community engagement.
On 20 August 2024, Assam Rifles organized a Medical Camp in Tuitong Village, Chandel District. This initiative was part of their ongoing efforts to provide essential healthcare services to communities with limited access. Assam Rifles medical staff, along with a team of nurses, examined 63 locals, including senior citizens, pregnant and lactating women, and children from Tuitong and Gumnom villages. The camp provided consultations and distributed necessary medicines, addressing urgent medical needs and receiving widespread appreciation from the public for its timely and effective service.
Following the medical camp, Assam Rifles organized a Friendly Volleyball Match between their battalion and the youth of Old Samtal village on 22 August 2024. The event, aimed at strengthening the bond between Assam Rifles and the local community, saw enthusiastic participation from the villagers. The closely contested match ended with Old Samtal emerging victorious, showcasing exceptional sportsmanship. A total of 67 villagers attended, creating a vibrant atmosphere.
These events underscore Assam Rifles’ commitment to both community welfare and engagement, blending essential medical support with recreational and cultural activities to enhance relations with local communities.
ASSAM RIFLES CONNECTS WITH HEROES: AN INSPIRING INTERACTION WITH EX-SERVICEMEN AND VEER NARIS
Asam Rifles, hosted an interaction program for Ex-Servicemen and Veer Naris at the Assam Rifles Camp, Headquarters Veng, Churachandpur on 21 August 2024. This quarterly welfare and rehabilitation event turned into a heartwarming gathering filled with camaraderie and shared experiences.
During the event, the Ex-Servicemen and Veer Naris came together to discuss the challenges they face amid the ongoing conflict in Manipur. Their candid conversations not only highlighted their resilience but also reflected their unwavering support for peace and stability in the region. A dedicated grievance cell was set up to capture their concerns and suggestions, ensuring that their voices are heard and addressed.
With a total of 57 Ex-Servicemen and 6 Veer Naris in attendance, the program was a testament to the strong bond and mutual support within the services. .
This enriching interaction reaffirmed Assam Rifles’ commitment to the well-being of our heroes and their families, making it a memorable and meaningful occasion.
