The Assam Rifles held ‘Samman Samaroh’ (Honouring Ceremony) to recognize and celebrate the dedicated service of its retired personnel. This event took place at the Assam Rifles headquarters in Shillong and was attended by senior officials, current serving members and retirees.
The Samman Samaroh is a tribute to the unwavering commitment and exemplary service of these 119 JCO’s & OR who are retiring from the Assam Rifles on 31 August 2024. This ceremony underscores the organization’s deep respect and appreciation for the sacrifices made by its veterans.
Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General of Assam Rifles, addressed the gathering, reflecting on the rich legacy of the Force and the invaluable contributions of its retirees. Assam Rifles honour not just the service of the retirees, but the spirit and resilience that define the Force. DG Assam Rifles stated. “Their service has been a beacon of strength, and this ceremony is our way of saying thank you for their unwavering dedication.”
The event included a series of heartfelt tributes, awards and presentations to the retirees, acknowledging their distinguished careers and contributions.
The retirees also paid tribute to the Bravehearts of the Force at Assam Rifles War Memorial, Laitkor, Shillong. The retirees were also briefed regarding various welfare schemes for Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen as part of the event.
