EASTERN COMMAND TO LAUNCH “EAST TECH 2024” AT BISWA BANGLA MELA PRANGAN, KOLKATA

The “East Tech 2024″ is scheduled on 5th and 6th November 2024, at the Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan, Kolkata under the aegis of the Eastern Command, Indian Army. The event will be inaugurated on the 5th November 2024 by Shri Aroop Biswas, Minister for sports and youth Affairs, Power & Non-Conventional Energy and Housing, Government of West Bengal Together with Lt Gen Ram Chander Tiwari, GOC-in-C, Eastern Command .

During the opening ceremony, the Army Commander will deliver a keynote address discussing the critical importance of self-reliance in defence and technology.

Organised by the Eastern Command in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturer the (SIDM), East Tech 2024 aims to promote awareness of contemporary technologies and hardware solutions available from Indian defence manufacturers under the “Raksha Atmanirbharta” campaign.

The Symposium seeks to address the operational challenges faced by the Eastern Command by integrating cutting-edge indigenous technologies into its operations. A wide range of Indian manufacturers, including Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) along with the Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs), will showcase their latest and most advanced weapon and equipment technologies over the course of this two-day event. Additionally, East Tech 2024 aims to provide a vital platform for startups and major players in the defence industry, particularly those from West Bengal and other northeastern states, to exhibit their latest innovations.

This landmark event is expected to foster greater collaboration between the Indian private sector and research and development organizations, reinforcing the Atmanirbhar Bharat and Raksha Atmanirbharta initiatives. Attendees will gain invaluable insights into indigenously developed weapons and equipment systems, poised to enhance the capabilities of the Indian Armed Forces against emerging challenges.

The response from Indian defence manufacturers has been overwhelmingly positive, with numerous companies, including MSMES, and DPSUs, arriving in the City of Joy to present their latest advancements in weapon and equipment technology at this significant event.
