The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) and Government Railway Police (GRP) in collaboration with the Border Security Force (BSF), continues its relentless efforts to curb cross-border illegal migration through the nation’s railway network.
In two separate incidents that occurred on 21st and 22nd November 2024, Bangladeshi individuals attempting to enter India illegally were apprehended at key railway stations in the state of Tripura.
In the first case, on 22nd November, 12 individuals, including minors, were detained at Teliamura Railway Station in Khowai district. Investigations revealed that they had entered Indian territory through the Silachari area of Gomati district with assistance from a cross-border agent and were enroute to Delhi in search of work. Essential items, including mobile phones, were recovered during the operation, and they were handed over to the BSF for further legal action.
The second case occurred on 21st November, at Dharmanagar Railway Station. During a routine check of train No. 14619 DN (Tripura Sundari Express), four individuals including one female, were detained by the RPF in collaboration with BSF team of Shipinjuri.
These individuals admitted to have entered India via the Sonamura Border in Sepahijala district of Tripura with the help of an intermediary and were similarly planned to travel to Delhi for labour work purposes.
These operations underscore the vigilance and coordination of security agencies in safeguarding railway stations, premises and routes from misuse in cross-border illegal activities.
