Assam Rifles in collaboration with the Chandel District Health Mission Society conducted a medical camp at New Samtal, Chandel District on December 01, 2024. The camp aimed to deliver healthcare to underserved villages in the remote border region grappling with limited health infrastructure.
Specialists including gynaecologists, paediatricians, and ENT doctors from Assam Rifles and the District Health Mission provided consultations. Diagnostic facilities like ultrasonography and lab tests were also available. A total of 1400 locals received treatment, medicines, and prescriptions.
The event witnessed active participation from local civil society organizations, including the Kuki Chiefs Association (KCA), Kuki Youth Association (KYA), Women Association, New Samtal, and Kuki Students Organization (KSO).
The camp also included HIV/AIDS awareness sessions as part of World AIDS Day observance. A help desk encouraged local youth to join the Armed Forces and Assam Rifles.
Dr. Joyson Monsang, CMO Chandel, commended Assam Rifles for bridging healthcare gaps in the district. The villagers expressed gratitude for the initiative, which strengthened ties between security forces and the local population.
The event concluded on a high note with local music, Assam Rifles Jazz Band performances, and refreshments.
Simultaneously on 01 Dec, Assam Rifles organised a lecture on HIV/AIDS awareness at Sajik Tampak, Chandel District, on the occasion of World AIDS Day.
The session, led by the Assam Rifles Medical Officer (ARMO), focused on the prevention, early detection, and treatment of HIV/AIDS, while addressing associated stigmas. Villagers actively participated and appreciated the initiative promoting health awareness in the region.
This endeavours reflects Assam Rifles’ dedication to community development and public health in the remote parts of the state.
ASSAM RIFLES ORGANISES OPENING CEREMONY OF SEPOY NICHOLAS MOYON (LATE) MEMORIAL FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT, CHANDEL DISTRICT OF MANIPUR
Assam Rifles in collaboration with the District Sports Association, Chandel inaugurated “Sepoy Nicholas Moyon Memorial Football Tournament” on 02 Dec 24 at Ziontlang Football Ground.
The tournament, scheduled from 2nd to 7th December 2024, honours the sacrifices of Sepoy Nicholas Moyon (1st Naga), Sepoy Beningvir Moyon and Sepoy S Gernathang (both 2nd Naga) who laid down their lives during the Kargil War.
The event witnessed the presence of ex-servicemen and the families of the martyrs alongside enthusiastic participation from the local community.
21 all-men teams from across Chandel District Manipur will compete in the tournament symboling the spirit of patriotism, sportsmanship and aims to bring the community together to celebrate the valour and sacrifices of our brave soldiers.
