Dispur, January 2: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today rolled out the 2nd phase of Assam Micro Finance Institutions Relief Scheme for regular payer beneficiaries and handed over cheques to 5024 beneficiaries of Gohpur, Behali, Sootea and Biswanath at a programme held at Biswanath.
Under Phase-II of Assam Micro Finance Institutions Relief Scheme, a total of 12,590 Category I beneficiaries, in Biswanath District will receive their cheques. During this phase of the scheme, those borrowers who have been repaying regularly would be benefitted. They will be provided one-time incentive of Rs.25,000/- or outstanding balance, whichever is less. This is an incentive for them to continue maintaining good credit discipline. Total 11 lakh women would benefit during this phase of the scheme.
Urging beneficiaries to use these incentives judiciously so that their CIBIL Scores improve & they become eligible for more loans in future, The Chief Minister said the microfinance institutions should also make the loan applicants aware about the repayment conditions. He also informed that a new portal will be opened from next month where those women beneficiaries who have not been able to repay their microfinance loans at all, would be able to register themselves and State Government will help them to repay their loans.
The Chief Minister also announced that lots of development scheme are being implemented in Biswanath district where an Engineering College at Behali and a Medical College at Biswanath are coming up. A ropeway project has also been proposed at Biswanath Ghat and expected to be completed within 2022, he added.
The Chief Minister also informed that the State Government is taking steps to provide Caste Certificates to Class 9 students this year in their respective schools without having to go anywhere.
Finance Minister Ajanta Neog, Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika, MP Pallab Lochan Das, MLA & Chairman of Gorukhuti Agriculture Project Padma Hazarika, Chairman of Assam Seed Corporation Prabin Hazarika, MLAs Pramod Borthakur, Ranjit Dutta, Utpal Bora, Krishna Kamal Tanti were present on the occasion.
Earlier today, The Chief Minister inaugurated Bamgaon Ward No 4 Model Anganwadi Centre at Biswanath and interacted with children and Anganwadi Workers there.
While taking with the media person there, he said that the model Anganwadi centre will be able to play a key role in the overall development of children at their formative stages while also ensuring adequate nutrition of pregnant women & lactating mothers. He also informed The State Government is going to set up 10,000 such new Anganwadi centres in the coming few years in the state.
