Minister of State, MoP&NG, Labour & Employment inaugurates the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Guwahati Refinery

Minister of State, MoP&NG, Labour &  Employment, Rameshwar Teli inaugurated the Diamond Jubilee celebration of Guwahati Refinery, the first Public Sector Refinery of the country on 1st January, 2022. Guwahati Refinery, known as the Gangotri of IndianOil was dedicated to the nation on this day in the year 1962 by the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The Honourable Minister of State inaugurated the Diamond Jubilee celebration by lighting the ceremonial lamp in the presence of Chairman, Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Shri Shrikant Madhav Vaidya and Executive Director & Refinery Head, Guwahati Refinery, Shri SP Singh. The inaugural session of the Diamond Jubilee celebration then began with Guwahati Refinery song followed by a cake cutting ceremony to mark the momentous 60 years of Guwahati Refinery. Addressing the audience comprising Dr. Kuladhar Saikia, President of Assam Sahitya Sabha and former DGP, Assam , distinguished former Executive Directors of Guwahati Refinery, Executive Director & Refinery Head of Bongaigaon Refinery,  IndianOil AOD, State Office, Guwahati-Siliguri Pipelines  and the IndianOil employees of Guwahati Refinery, the honourable Minister of State expressed his happiness on Guwahati Refinery attaining this milestone and shared his vision for the Refinery which symbolizes the nation’s march towards indigenization of the refining technology. While sharing the historical background behind the construction of the Refinery in Guwahati and the sentiments that the people of the State associate with the Refinery, he further emphasized on taking Guwahati Refinery to another heights of excellence with newer technologies and excellent performances. The honourable Minister also shared his vision for all the three North-East refineries of IndianOil and urged the IOCians present on the occasion to put their best efforts in making these refineries indeed a pride for the entire nation.

In the program, the honourable Minister handed over an audio series of musical heritage of Assam, an initiative of Guwahati Refinery to Dr. Kuladhar Saikia, President of Assam Sahitya Sabha. The program also witnessed handing over of cheques to the school authorities of Guwahati Refinery High School and Noonmati High School for carrying out infrastructure development in the respective schools. On the occasion, the honourable Minister also handed over medical kits to around 15 students  of Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) course sponsored by the Refinery under its CSR initiatives and released a booklet covering various Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives undertaken by the Refinery in the recent years. The program also witnessed release of an audio-video of Guwahati Refinery song by the honourable Minister.
