In a significant step towards enhancing operational efficiency and aligning with establishing functionality, the Additional Director General of JK&L Directorate Maj Gen Anupinder Bevli, accompanied by Brig PS Cheema visited the newly raised 1 J&K Air Squadern NCC at Udhampur on 08 Jan 25. This visit marks a critical milestone in the unit’s setup and is expected to further bolster its functioning at the earliest.
The purpose of the visit was aimed at reviewing the unit’s infrastructure, operational readiness, and resource allocation while offering valuable guidance on strengthening the Air Wing’s training programs and outreach initiatives. The visit provided the ADG with an opportunity to assess the current status of the unit’s setup and to engage with staff involved in its development. During the visit, the ADG was briefed by the Commanding Officer Wg Cdr Nitin Yadav on the current status of the unit, key milestones achieved, and any potential challenges encountered during the early phases of the setup. He was also briefed by the Commanding Officer of the unit towards the procedures being put in place for creating a safe flying and maintenance environment in the unit to undertake flying operations at the earliest.
The ADG commended the focussed efforts being undertaken by the CO and PI Staff towards timely enrolment of cadets in various institutions of Udhampur & Jammu region. The Gen also laid emphasis on maintaining highest standards of quality towards the institutional training that will be provided to the cadets. The visit also provided a platform for discussing the future growth of the Air NCC Unit, with a focus on increasing its operational capacity, introducing advanced training modules, and improving enrolment and outreach to encourage more young cadets to join the Air Wing.
1 J&K Air NCC Sqn at Udhampur is the first ever Air Sqn of NCC in the region and its raising is a monumental step aimed at fostering interest in aviation among young people and providing them with specialized training in aviation, leadership, and discipline. This unit will provide cadets with exposure to various aspects of Air Force operations, flying techniques, and aerospace science, creating a dynamic platform for youth empowerment and skill development.de>
