An Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Re-Union Rally was organized on 4th February 2025 (Tuesday) at Nagopara, Boko, Kamrup (Assam) to address grievances related to pensions, banking, and documentation under a single platform. The rally witnessed active participation of 126 Ex-Servicemen, including one visually impaired veteran, 86 widows, and 104 wives and dependents of ESM.
The event was presided over by Brig Polash Choudhury, SM (Retd.), Director, Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Assam, as the Chief Guest, alongside Col Padmalochan Barman (Retd.), Welfare Officer, Zila Sainik Welfare Office, Kamrup (M), and his staff as hosts. The rally also saw the presence of Shri Aziruddin Ahmed, representative of BDO, Boko Circle; Smt. Pushpalata Boro, wife of Late Sub Dadhi Ram Boro (1971 War Veteran); and the Presidents and Secretaries of Mandira and Chhaygaon ESM Associations. Ex Sub Krishnapati Boro, Advisor, Ex-Servicemen Association, Boko, welcomed all dignitaries, Veer Naris, veterans, and dependents to the event, setting the stage for the proceedings.

Col Barman highlighted critical welfare and resettlement aspects, including:
Rehabilitation and resettlement schemes for Ex-Servicemen.
Welfare initiatives by the Kendriya Sainik Board and Rajya Sainik Board, Assam.
Government of Assam welfare schemes.
Updates on SPARSH and pension-related grievance redressal.
ECHS facilities and related issues.
Reservation policies for Medical, Dental, and Engineering Colleges.
2% reservation in Group A, B, C, and D posts in Assam Government recruitment.
Additionally, he informed attendees about the upcoming “Job Fair” on 7th February at Brahmaputra Hall, Narangi Army Camp, HQ 51 Sub Area, and the “Governor Assam Rashtriya Kritagyata Evam Jagrookta Yojana”, a sensitization initiative led by the Governor of Assam.
Brig Choudhury expressed gratitude to the veterans and their families for their selfless service to the nation. He urged them to actively engage in social and nation-building activities while assuring timely redressal of grievances. He reiterated the Rajya Sainik Board’s steadfast commitment to the welfare and well-being of the Ex-Servicemen community.

In a heartfelt gesture, Veer Naris, orphans, disabled dependents, and eminent veterans were felicitated during the rally, acknowledging their invaluable sacrifices and contributions to the nation.
The event fostered a sense of camaraderie and served as a platform to address the concerns of the Ex-Servicemen community while promoting their welfare and empowerment.
