Under its flagship initiative, Operation Sadbhavana, Assam Rifles dedicated a newly constructed Community Hall to the village authorities of Hungdung Goda in Kamjong District, Manipur. This project aims to provide the local community with a well-equipped space for social, cultural and administrative activities.
Designed as a central hub for the village, the Community Hall will facilitate public meetings, cultural programs and social gatherings. Given the limited infrastructure in remote areas, this initiative is expected to significantly enhance community engagement and connectivity.
The handing-over ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest,Mr. Yarngai Rimai, the region’s eldest resident at 99 years old. Fondly known as the Old Compounder by the villagers, Mr. Rimai served as a civil medical assistant to the British Indian Army during World War II when he was just a teenager.
The event was attended by, senior officials from the AssamRifles, village authorities and local residents. Speaking at the event, the officials from Assam Rifles reaffirmed the force’s commitment to fostering harmony and ensuring development in remote areas. The Community Hall stands as a testament to Assam Rifles’ vision of empowerment, peace and progress.
The village authorities and community members extended their heartfelt appreciation for this noble initiative. They highlighted that the new infrastructure would provide a safe and functional space for discussions, celebrations and educational programs, fostering unity and development.
ASSAM RIFLES INAUGURATED UPGRADED PUBLIC HEALTH CENTRE IN MANIPUR
Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) inaugurated Public Health Centre after upgradation under OPERATION SADBHAVANA 2024-25 at Sajik Tampak, Chandel district (Manipur).
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Kuki Inpi Chandel (KIC) President Mr Lhumthang Haokip, Chief Secretary of Sajik Tampak Mr Elvis Zou alongwith other dignitaries, healthcare professionals and local residents. The event emphasized the importance of strengthening primary healthcare infrastructure to ensure timely medical assistance for local populace.
The Public Health Center is a step towards ensuring quality healthcare for everyone, especially for underserved communities. The PHC is equipped with essential medical facilities like vaccinations, maternity care, child healthcare, emergency treatments, outpatient consultation services, and basic diagnostic facilities.
Assam Rifles remains committed in improving public health services and making medical care more accessible and to its mission of promoting peace, prosperity and progress in the region. All the dignitaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude towards the Assam Rifles in assisting the local police during crisis.
