Today, 11 February 2025, a pre-scheduled informal meeting was held between Maninder P.S. Pawar, IPS, Inspector General BSF South Bengal Frontier and Brigadier General S.M.Zahidur Rahman, SGP, Regional Commander, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) North West Region at BOP Sona Masjid, Bangladesh on the Indo-Bangladesh border.
During the meeting, constructive discussions were held to reinforce peace along the border, enhance coordination and strengthen mutual cooperation between the border guarding forces of both the nations. The commanders informally discussed issues such as curbing cross-border crimes, intensifying joint efforts, overseeing ongoing development initiatives in border regions, implementing effective measures to prevent illegal movement and ensuring robust and effective border management.
The IG South Bengal Frontier emphasized that strong mutual cooperation between BSF and BGB is crucial for maintaining a secure and peaceful border, ensuring regional stability, and fostering prosperity. He highlighted that seamless coordination between the two forces will not only reinforce border security but also elevate bilateral relations to new heights. The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both the forces towards enhancing collaboration and jointly addressing security challenges. Both the comonders agreed that BSF and BGB will continue their concerted efforts to further strengthen the spirit of cooperation between India and Bangladesh and do everything possible to reinforce their shared vision of peace and progress.
