In a significant success in its efforts against drug smuggling, Assam Rifles in a joint operation with representatives of the Excise and Narcotics Department, recovered 57.69 grams of Heroin No. 4 worth Rs 40.38 lakhs and apprehended two individuals in general area Lunglei town, district Lunglei, Mizoram on 22 February 2025.
Based on a specific intelligence input, the joint team intercepted a Scooty and recovered the drugs. Two individuals identified as K Lalrinchhana (28 years old, resident of village Salem, Lunglei District) and Vanlalruati (23 years old, resident of village Ramthar, Lunglei District), were also apprehended.
The recovered narcotics and the individuals have been handed over to the Excise and Narcotics Department, Lunglei for further investigation and legal proceedings.
