In a series of operations, Indian Army and Assam Rifles formation under Spear Corps launched intelligence-based operations in the hill and valley districts namely Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Tengnoupal, Chandel and Senapati between 05–12 May 25 in coordination with Manipur Police, CRPF, BSF, and ITBP.
The operations resulted in apprehension of 16 cadres from the hill and valley based groups and recovery of 17 weapons, 17 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), grenades, ammunition and war like stores.
On 04-05 May 25, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched a joint operations in general area Tingri in Imphal West district and Chamol Top in Chandel district and recovered three weapons comprising one AK-47 Rifle, one modified .303 Rifle, 11 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), grenades, ammunition and war like stores.
In Tengnoupal district, Assam Rifles launched an intelligence based operation in general area T Minou on 07 May 25 and recovered three weapons comprising, one AK-56, one INSAS Rifle, one Carbine, six IEDs, grenades, ammunition and war like stores.
Subsequently, on 08 May, in Senapati district, Assam Rifles launched an intelligence based operation in general Area Taphou Kuki, and recovered four weapons comprising two Bolt Action Single Barrel Rifles, one .22 Rifle, one 9mm Pistol and ammunition and war like stores.
In a joint operation by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police in Sajirok in Imphal West District on 10 May 25, the team recovered seven weapons comprising one SLR, one SBBL Gun, two Pt 22 Rifles, one modified .303 Rifle, three 9mm Pistols, grenades, ammunition and war like stores.
In addition to above, coordinated intelligence based joint operations were launched in the hill and valley districts, resulting in apprehension of 17 cadres of various proscribed organisations.
The apprehended cadres and the recovered items have been handed over to Manipur Police.
These coordinated efforts by security forces highlight their unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security in Manipur.
