In a heartfelt step towards ensuring economic empowerment and ecological preservation, Daring Pathfinders, a youth-driven NGO working for rural upliftment, has taken a significant leap in supporting the indigenous Karbi women and their Self-Help Groups (SHGs) by providing them with seasonal vegetable seeds and financial assistance. This initiative marks a pivotal effort in helping the women achieve sustainable livelihood opportunities while encouraging a productive income stream through eco-conscious farming practices.
Speaking at the initiative’s launch, Hriday Jyoti Ojha, CEO of Daring Pathfinders, said, “Strengthening the women towards achieving self-sufficiency and reducing dependence on the forest has resulted in boosting the morale of the villagers. We are proud that through this effort, we are not only empowering the women but also moving closer to our organizational vision of making Pesamhuru a greener and better place to live.” This initiative enables the SHG members to cultivate seasonal green vegetables organically—without the use of chemicals, thus contributing to the health of the community and the environment. It also reduces pressure on forest-based resources, aligning with the broader goals of sustainability and conservation.
Kirtiman Borah, General Secretary of Daring Pathfinders, emphasised the long-term vision by saying, “We have set an example for the villagers; by continuing this support we aim to make the community self-reliant, economically viable, and environmentally aware. These empowered women will become role models for others in the region.”
The local villagers have warmly welcomed the initiative. The early results have already shown promise, with families adopting natural cultivation methods enthusiastically. This transformation is impacting not just individual incomes but also improving the socio-economic fabric of the village and contributing to the restoration of the local ecosystem.
“The initiative is part of the broader mission of Daring Pathfinders to bring sustainable development to remote villages like Pesamhuru under their ongoing programs that focus on livelihood, environment, and community building. As the native Karbi women step confidently into a new era of empowerment and resilience, Daring Pathfinders continues to stand beside them—fuelling dreams, nurturing nature, and shaping a self-sufficient tomorrow.”, Niren Teron, Village Executive of Daring Pathfinders added.
