MULTIPLE SUCCESSFUL OPERATIONS BY ASSAM RIFLES IN NORTH EAST – A MAJOR BLOW

Assam Rifles, known as the “Sentinels of the North East,” has conducted multiple successful operations in the North East region, resulting in the seizure of large quantities of contraband, particularly heroin and methamphetamine, with significant busts in 2025 and early 2026.

80.8 GRAMS OF HEROIN FROM MIZORAM:

Acting on specific intelligence regarding trafficking of narcotics in general area Zote, Champhai district in Mizoram, Assam Rifles troops launched a swift and well-coordinated operation recently.

During the operation, the alert troops intercepted a vehicle and upon thorough checking recovered 80.8 grams of Heroin No–4 valued at approximately ₹ 68.25 Lakhs. The contraband was being transported by one individual identified as Mr. Lal Thanpuia. The apprehended person along with the recovered narcotics and vehicle were handed over to Excise and Narcotics Department, Champhai for further investigation and necessary legal action.

This successful recovery underscores Assam Rifles’ unwavering commitment to combating smuggling and eradicating drug menace in Mizoram.

The Force remains dedicated to ensuring security of Indo–Myanmar Border and fostering a drug free society in the region.

ASSAM RIFLES SEIZES METHAMPHETAMINE TABLETS WORTH ₹6.6 CRORES FROM MIZORAM:

Acting on credible intelligence inputs related to narcotics trafficking, Assam Rifles conducted a operation in general area Ngur in district Champhai, Mizoram.
During the operation, one person on a Kenbo Bike was stopped.A thorough search resulted in recovery of 2.2 kg of Methamphetamine tablets, a highly dangerous psychotropic substance with an estimated international market value of ₹6.6 Crores.

The person carrying the contraband was identified as Lalhmangaihzuala and was also apprehended.

The seized contraband along with the apprehended individual was handed over to Excise and Narcotics Department, Champhai for detailed investigation and further legal action.

The swift and decisive action by Assam Rifles demonstrates their steadfast commitment and vigilance in curbing drug trafficking activities. This operation reinforces the ongoing collective efforts to protect youth of Mizoram from adverse effects of narcotics and maintain peace and security in the region.

ASSAM RIFLES AND DRI SEIZES YABA TABLETS WORTH ₹16 CRORES IN TRIPURA:

Assam Rifles in a joint operation with Directorate of Revenue Intelligence(DRI) launched an operation based on information of trafficking of drugs in Khowai district.

During the operation, the team apprehended one individual, resident of Karimganj, Assam who was transporting 1,60,000 Yaba Tablets worth ₹16 Crores via NH 8 late night.The Tata truck in which the narcotics were transported was also seized and further investigation is under progress.

Assam Rifles has been at the forefront of anti drug operations in the region conducting regular operations to disrupt and dismantle narcotics networks.This seizure is a significant milestone in the effort to combat drug trafficking just ahead of Republic Day celebrations.

DESTROYS GANJA PLANTATION IN A MAJOR OPERATION IN TRIPURA:

On the eve of Republic Day as part of enhanced deterrence and heightened security measures, Assam Rifles carried out anti-narcotics operation in general area Boxonagar approximately 38 km south of Agartala.

Assam Rifles troops, in close coordination with Anti-Narcotics Task Force, Forest Department, Border Security Force Police representatives destroyed approximately 1,70,000 illicit ganja saplings cultivated over an area of 69 acres assessed to be worth ₹42.5 crore.

This timely and resolute action delivered a significant blow to narco networks operating in the region and reinforced the Force’s zero-tolerance towards drug trafficking and cultivation.

AR SEIZE CONTRABAND WORTH ₹ 1.8 CRORE FROM AIZAWL:

In a significant and well-coordinated action against illegal activities in Mizoram, Assam Rifles successfully recovered 339 bags of illegal Areca Nuts from general area Tlangnuam, Aizawl.The total market value of the seized consignment is estimated to be ₹1 crore and 80 Lakhs.

The operation was carried out based on timely intelligence inputs regarding storage of contraband. Consequently, Assam Rifles launched the operation that culminated in seizure of consignment, three vehicles and arrest of three individuals, who were handed over to Custom Preventive Force, Aizawl, for further investigation and necessary legal proceedings.

ASSAM RIFLES DESTROYS ILLICIT GANJA CULTIVATION WORTH ₹14.5 CRORE IN TRIPURA:

Assam Rifles carried out a major anti-narcotics operation in general area Boxanagar, about 41 km south of Agartala, in Sepahijala District, Tripura.

Acting on specific intelligence, a column of Assam Rifles in coordination with Sepahijala District Police, Tripura State Rifles and Forest Department, launched a well-coordinated operation. During the operation, 1,45,000 illicit ganja saplings cultivated over an area of over 58 acres were destroyed.

The destroyed contraband is assessed to have a market value of approximately ₹14.5 crore, dealing a significant blow to narcotics network operating in the region.

This operation underscores the unwavering commitment of Assam Rifles towards eliminating drug menace and reinforcing the vision of a drug-free society.
