Football is one of the popular games in northeastern India. Many footballers represent this region of India like Dr Talimeran Ao who became the first football captain of India, Bhaichung Bhutia and many others.
Born in 1942 in Chongkham Village under Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh.
Chow Indrajit Namchoom was the first footballer from Arunachal Pradesh to play for India in the 60s.
Chow represented one of the best football clubs of that era, Guwahati Town Club, from 1960 to 1968. His performances earned him a call-up to the Indian team for the International Championships in 1964 held in Saigon, Vietnam and Malaysia.
After his retirement, Namchoom became the first sportsperson to observe the role of Sports Minister in Arunachal Pradesh.
