Union government is giving priorities to NE Zone: Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti

Union government is giving topmost priorities for the overall development of North East zone says Union Minister of State, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution & Ministry of Rural development, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti while addressing a press meet today at Guwahati.

In her address Sadhvi Niranjan thanked Assam government for providing free food grains to the beneficiaries under the government schemes. She further said that here state government is procuring food grains from outside states,  now government is considering  to procure food grains from the farmers of this region to distribute under government schemes.

She asserted that Union government is committed for the betterment of the common people. While referring about the Covid Pandemic she said that the government efficiently tackled the pandemic. She said that during the first wave when people lost their employment during the lockdown free rations were provided to the poor population, free gas cylinders were provided for three months, now almost 80 crore Indian population getting free ration. 

She informed that in 5,35315 houses were constructed under Pradhanmantri Awas Yojana in the Northeast zone and out of the 4,33010 houses were built in Assam under the scheme. Earlier in the day, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti took a review meeting on the performance of Panchayat & Rural Development, Food supplies & Consumer Affairs department
