Kolkata, The City of Joy has always been famous for its exotic food festivals. As we all know, this pandemic has brought havoc and chaos for everyone. However, with time people have normalized celebrating life amidst the pandemic. This festive season, ibis Kolkata Rajarhat- one of the most renowned hotels in Kolkata, organized a food festival “Durga Puja Shombaar” on 27th September, enlightening Kolkata’s rich diversity, which eventually turned out to be a huge success. The event was highlighted with a blend of traditional scrumptious Indian delicacies and an eye catchy decoration that created a whole Pujo vibe!

Famous personalities like Sudarshan Chakraborty (designer & dancer), a famous vocalist, Dipannita Acharya, designer Indroneel Mukherjee, Singer, Paroma Banerjee, celebrity chef Shaun Kenworthy were present for the food tasting. The menu included signature drink of Aampanna and several appetizers like channar cutlet and Kolkata Kashundi fish finger and other delicious main courses like Dhokar dalna, Dhone pata bata Murgi and several mouth-watering desserts.
The cultural afternoon witnessed the food festival, which was an opportunity for some of the best food producers of the region to showcase their produce. Fresh, green and cheesy salads were bountiful and delicious, decorated and served with wedges of lime, along with shaved cured meats, sashimi of local fish, all served with a signature drink and beers. After all, Kolkata’s Durga Puja is much more than just worshipping the Goddess in pandals. It’s a celebration of life, and art. Amidst the pandemic, this food festival was a great consolation as it avoided a large gathering but it still gave a “real feel” of the Pujo vibe.
Speaking on this occasion, Shaun Kenworthy, Celebrated British Chef and Restaurateur added,” Food festivals are one of my favorite things. Not only are they a wonderful way to spend a day, but I love discovering new food and products, especially from local chefs. So, naturally, I jumped at the opportunity.”
Speaking on the occasion, Pradeep Kumar Thakur, an Executive Chef, ibis Kolkata Rajarhat said “We are excited to be present at this food festival with all the safety protocols in place for the people of the city. We hope to bring a smile to your faces through this initiative. I had a great experience while making food for the guests and competing with others in the food festival. All over, I enjoyed myself a lot.”
This Puja Special menu will be available at ibis Kolkata Rajarhat from 10th October 2021 (Sunday)-15th October 2021 (Friday) for lunch and dinner.
