The South Bengal Frontier apprehended an Indian tout and a Bangladeshi woman crossing the border on December 17, 2021, from the area of their responsibility. Both of them have been arrested while trying to go from India to Bangladesh from the area of the Border Out Post Tetulberia, 158 Battalion.
On December 17, 2021, at around 0830 hrs, troops of Border Out Post Tetulberia, 158 Battalion saw a suspicious woman approaching the International Boundary from Sosadanga Road. BSF troops intercepted the woman and arrested her.
The woman revealed that she is a Bangladeshi citizen. The woman has been identified as 1) Shilpi Sheikh, age 35 years, S/o- Akbar Sheikh, Village- Shrashpada Railgate, Post Office- Raipara, PS- Jashore, District- Jashore, Bangladesh.
During preliminary interrogation, the woman revealed that 06 months ago, she met a woman (Nazma) who was from Rajshahi, Bangladesh and was living illegally with her husband in Bangalore city in India. The woman promised Shilpi Shaikh to give her a job in a beauty parlor in the city of Bangalore. So Shilpi Sheikh came to India with the help of a Bangladeshi tout in search of job. After coming to India, she moved to Yeshwanthpuram, Bangalore and started living at Najma’s house. Shilpi and Najma used to do housekeep work there, but after 6 months Shilpi decided to go to Bangladesh to meet her family. So, she contacted an unknown Indian tout who lives in Tetulberia. Shilpi Sheikh told that the tout took her from Howrah railway station on a motorcycle and kept her in his house for 2 days. She identified two other Indian touts Alamgir Fakir, s/o Sahajjud Fakir, Village- Tetulberia and Hasan Gain, S/o- Hasmat Gain. Shilpi Shaikh told that Hassan took her to the banks of the Sasadanga river to get her crossed the International boundary but there in the night time Hassan raped her and took all her belongings and Rs 12000/- also, and left her there and ran away. She told that while she was trying to cross the International Boundary in the morning, the Border Security Force personnel caught her.
After the revelation of Shilpi Sheikh, the Border Security Force troops caught Alamgir Fakir, (age 28 years) from Sasdanga village. While Hasan got escaped.
During preliminary interrogation, Alamgir Fakir told that he used to do construction work in Mumbai earlier but a month ago he came back from Mumbai and got involved in smuggling activities.
The arrested Bangladeshi woman and Indian tout have been handed over to police station Gaighata.
The Public Relations Officer, South Bengal Frontier, expressed happiness over the achievements of the 158 Battalion personnel. He stated that to root out the crime, it is necessary to arrest the touts. He also stated that stopping such illegal cross border movement has been possible only because of the alertness displayed by BSF troops on duty.
