RPF of N. F. Railway apprehended three touts during last week

Maligaon, 21st December, 2021:

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway apprehended three persons in different drives conducted during last week for illegal selling of railway e-tickets. RPF recovered 35 railway tickets worth more than Rs. 27 thousand during 14th to 17th December, 2021. Apprehended persons were prosecuted under section 143 of the Railways Act.

In an incident on 17th December, 2021 CIB team of RPF/Katihar jointly with RPF of Katihar (East) conducted drive at Labha railway station during which, they apprehended one person namely, Md. Mokram Ali (21 years) resident of Vill-Tarapur, P.S. Pranpur, Dist- Katihar (Bihar). The apprehended person disclosed that he along with his elder brother runs a shop in the name of ‘Rafik Digital Seva’ at Labha Chowk, where they procure Railway e-tickets, PRS counter tickets from PRS cum UTS counter at Labha railway station and supply to the needy passengers for their personal gain. During personal search of the apprehended person, 17 PRS counter tickets worth Rs. 11,700/- were found. Two mobile phones, cash Rs. 34 thousand, 10 ATM Cards, 02 PAN Cards, 02 aadhar Cards etc. were also recovered from the shop. In this regard, a case has been registered at RPF Post, Katihar (E) under section 143 (I) of the Railways Act.

In one such incident on 15th December, 2021 CIB team of RPF/Katihar jointly with RPF of Katihar (East) and Barsoi conducted raid and search with the assistance of local police personnel in a shop named “FINO Payments Bank” situated at Chhitabari Devi Road, Katihar (Bihar).  During the search, they apprehended the shop owner namely Manik Mandal (27 years) and 10 Railway e-tickets worth Rs. 8,632/-, generated by using personal user IDs were recovered. One laptop, 01 mobile with 02 SIMs, 01 printer & 01 banner of the alleged shop were also seized from the shop. In this regard, a case has been registered at RPF Post, Katihar (E) under section 143 (I) of the Railways Act.

Earlier also on 14th December, 2021 acting on information regarding touting activities by a shop namely  ‘BSM Net Point Stores’ located at Buniadpur, P.S. Banshihari, Dist- Dakshin Dinajpur (West Bengal); RPF staff of Buniadpur conducted raid and search in the said shop and apprehended the shop owner named Ruhul Amin (31 years). During the search, RPF recovered 08 e-tickets worth Rs. 7158.05. One laptop, one printer, one monitor, one mouse, one ATM card and cash Rs. 520/- were also seized from the shop. In this regard, a case has been registered at RPF Post, Buniadpur under section 143 of the Railways Act. 

It may be mentioned here that RPF of N. F. Railway detected 105 cases of touting activities and apprehended 117 persons involved in illegal selling of railway e-tickets during January to November this year.
