Dream comes true: a 17 years old boy suffering from a life-threatening disease of Thalassemia

The dream of a 17-year-old disabled youth, Arko Paul suffering from life threatening disease of Thalassemia Major got fulfilled when he succeeded in passing the NEET entrance exam securing him a seat in MBBS this year.

Arko Paul was diagnosed with this life-threatening disease which causes severe anaemia at Command Hospital, Kolkata and treated in the hospital with a highly expert team in Haematoncology.

The team headed by Col Rajan Kapoor made sure that the patient was able to achieve his dream by sustaining good health through monthly blood transfusions and an expert-focused follow-up for 7 years. The Haematoncology department at Command Hospital Kolkata comprises of state-of-the-art facilities like Neutropaenic care, Paediatric haemoncology, day care chemotherapy, blood component transfusion, bone marrow transplant apheresis unit for stem cells, platelets, plasma exchange and granulocyte transfusion. The team treating the patient conveyed that a high determination of the patient coupled with regular extensive uninterrupted treatment during COVID made his dream come true.
