Aaranyak organises cleanliness drive and capacitates locals on Republic Day

Aaranyak, a leading research and biodiversity conservation organisation in northeast India, partnered with Burapahar Forest Range Officials and Friends of Nature Group to hold a clean-up drive in Chirang Animal Corridor in Kaziranga National Park (KNP) as part of the celebration of Republic Day.

A 2-kilometre stretch of the NH-37 was covered from the Gajaraj viewpoint to west side. In order to protect an important animal corridor, all non-biodegradable wastes such as disposable bottles, polythene, plastic packages, etc. were removed from the area.

The children and women of Natundanga village, Burapahar, participated in different activities of the programme, such as drawing competitions and outdoor games, in the afternoon. Children and women were encouraged to showcase their talents by providing them with platforms at the local level. A variety of prizes were presented to the winners of the various activities.

Pradip Kumar Deva Goswami, Range Officer of Burapahar Range, Arif Hussain, Coordinator of Aaranyak’s Central Assam Zone, Jukti Bora, FR-1 of Burapahar Range, Medini Gogoi, FR-1, Range, Mangal Sing Teron, President of Natundanga Eco-development Committee, Khirud Saikia, Ivan Loying and Babukanta Daw, members of Aaranyak’s Central Assam Zone and Asif Ahmed, Monuj Ghosh, Umananda Thakur, Lutfur Rahman, Rajdeep Nath, Muzibur Rahman, Pankaj Malakar, Sirajul Islam and Priyotam Saikia, members of Friends of Nature group were present during the day long initiatives.
