On 09th February 2022, under South Bengal Frontier, troops of Border Out Post Ranghat, Adhoc VII apprehended three persons, including a tout, illegally entering the Indian territory in the border area of Nadia district.
On the midnight of 9th February, 2022, acting on the basis of intelligence, alert troops of Border Out Post Ranghat, Adhoc VII Battalion, apprehended 3 people while crossing the international boundary.
Identity of the apprehended persons are 1. Sopan Paramanik, age 31 years, S/o Poorna Paramanik, village Ranghat, District North 24 Parganas, 2. Paritosh Pal, age 53 years, S/o late Jagbandhu Pal, village Subhash Nagar D Block, District North 24 Parganas l and Palak Majumdar, age 22 years, S/o Atul Majumdar, village Shyam Nagar, District North 24 Parganas.
On interrogation, the tout Sopan Parmanik revealed that he has been escorting people who come illegally across the border for the last two years. He further revealed that even today he was bringing two people from Bangladesh.
Both apprehended Indian nationals revealed that they had gone to Bangladesh to meet their relatives about a month ago and were returning today. They had given 17,500 Bangladeshi Taka to a Bangladeshi tout named Shambhu for crossing the border.
The apprehended people were handed over to the PS Baghdah for further legal action.
Public Relations Officer, South Bengal Frontier stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict measures to check illegal infiltration along the Indo-Bangladesh border. He expressed happiness over the achievements of the troops of Adhoc VII Battalion, due to which 01 tout including 02 Indian nationals could be apprehended. He stated in clear words that we will not allow infiltration from our area under any circumstances.
