On 10th February 2022, under South Bengal Frontier, on the basis of reliable information, troops of Border Out Post Lavangola, 35 Battalion apprehended 01 Indian smuggler red handed with 164 Phensedyl bottles in the border area. Apart from this, in other incidents, the jawans seized 657 Phensedyl bottles on the border. The estimated value of all the 821 Phensedyl bottles seized was estimated at Rs. 1,53,240. Smugglers were trying to take all these Phensedyl bottles from India to Bangladesh.
On 10th February 2022, at about 2345 hrs, troops of Border Out Post Lavangola, 35 Battalion apprehended an Indian smuggler with 164 Phensedyl bottles. The smuggler was trying to take these bottles from India to Bangladesh from the area of the border Out Post Lavangola.
The apprehended smuggler was identified as Sarikul Islam, age 30 years, S/o Tiar Mohammad, village Charababupur, PS Bhagwangola, district Murshidabad. He revealed that he collected these Phensedyl bottles from Imran Sheikh, village Charababupur, PS Bhagwangola, District Murshidabad and was about to hand over to Kalu Sheikh, village 523, District Rajshahi, Bangladesh.
In other incidents, on 10th February 2022, troops of Border Out Post Bamanabad and Border Out Post Harudanga, 117 Battalion seized 632 bottles of Phensedyl from their area. Apart from this, the troops of the border Out Post Meghna, 141 Battalion thwarted the plans of the smugglers by seizing 25 bottles of Phensedyl.
The apprehended smuggler and the seized material have been handed over to the Police Stations of Bhagwangola, Raninagar and Hoogleberia respectively for further legal action.
Public Relations Officer, South Bengal Frontier stated in a statement that the Border Security Force is taking strict measures to check smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Further, the officer stated in strong words that the Border Security Force will not allow smuggling under any circumstances.
