Nagaland woman, 80, forced to strip naked at Guwahati’s LGBI Airport for “security check”!

Mhalo Kikon (80) from Nagaland was allegedly forced to strip naked by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport, Guwahati. This is certainly a subject of serious concern, and perhaps brings into light matters of respective perspective as well.

“My 80-year-old disabled mom was made to strip at the CISFsecurity check at Guwahati airport. The security personnel wanted “proof” of her titanium hip implant and forced her to undress.”, reads a tweet by Dolly Kikon, the victim’s daughter.

She adds, “The CISF security personnel team at Guwahati Airport are harrassing my neice who is taking care of my mother. They have taken away the complaint form she has written.They DID not allow her to take a screenshot saying it’snot “allowed”. My mom is distressed.”

Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Jyotiraditya Scindia has personally responded to the incident and assured of looking into it. The LGBI Airport, Guwahati is in Borjhar and a prominent airport in Northeast.

“Dear Ma’am, we understand that the CISF and Security team have contacted you immediately to further assist the passengers and ensure comfort. The Safety and Security of all our passengers is our topmost priority. We eagerly look forward to serving you at Guwahati Airport.”, reads a response tweet by the Guwahati Airport to the above mentioned.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) is responsible for formulation of national policies and programmes for the development and regulation of the Civil Aviation sector in the country. According to the official website, it is responsible for the administration of the Aircraft Act, 1934, Aircraft Rules, 1937 and various other legislations pertaining to the aviation sector in the country.

This Ministry exercises administrative control over attached and autonomous organizations like the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security and Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Udan Academy and affiliated Public Sector Undertakings like National Aviation Company of India Limited, Airports Authority of India and Pawan Hans Helicopters Limited.

After facing criticism in social media , CISF apologized for the inconvenience.

CISF Tweet,” Security and dignity of needy pax go hand in hand. CISF has already started enquiry in connection with the unfortunate incident at Guwahati airport. The concerned personnel has been suspended. DIG CISF has spoken with the passenger. @HMOIndia@MoCA_GoI@DollyKikon.”
