BSF apprehended a teenager while smuggling Phensedyl on Indo-Bangladesh Border

On March 29, 2022, at around 1210 hrs, the troops of Border Out Post Bamnabad, 117 Battalion, acting on specific and accurate information, apprehended an Indian smuggler. This smuggler was trying to smuggle Phensedyl from India to Bangladesh from the area of ​​Border Out Post Bamnabad . Taking immediate action, the troops surrounded the smuggler with an ambush and apprehended him. After a thorough search of the area, 433 bottles of Phensedyl were recovered from the smuggler having estimated cost of Rs.80,819/-.

On interrogation, the apprehended smuggler identified as Ateeq Ansari, age 12 (fictitious name), District-Murshidabad. The apprehended smuggler revealed that he had taken Phensedyl bottles from Animool Miyan, S/o- Rahim Miyan, Village- Lalkup Colony, PS-Sagarpara, Post- Shibnagar, District- Murshidabad. After crossing the BSF duty line, he was about to hand over these Phensedyl bottles to Ripon Shaikh, S/o- Kalam Shaikh, Village- Yusufpur, Post- Yusufpur, Thana-Charghat, District- Rajshahi (Bangladesh).

The apprehended smugglers and seized Phensedyl bottles have been handed over to Sagarpara Police Station for further legal action.

Shri Kailash Singh Mehta, Commanding Officer, 117 Battalion encouraging his jawans has stated that it shows the hard work and alertness of our jawans. Our jawans are fully committed to stop all kinds of smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh border. He also targeted the smugglers and stated that smugglers should not involve minor boys in smuggling and also leave the path of smuggling himself.
