On 23 July, 2022, the South Bengal Frontier troops have succeeded in seizing 7.53 kg of silver ornaments in different incidents from the area of their responsibility. The total value of the seized silver is Rs.3,13,865/-. Smugglers were trying to take these jewelery from India to Bangladesh.
In the first incident, on 23 July, 2022 at around 1610 hrs, troops of Border Out Post MS Pur, 70 Bn of Border Security Force thwarted a smuggler’s attempt and seized 2.3 kg of silver ornaments. In the second incident, troops of Border Out Post Hakimpur, 112 Battalion posted in the border area of North 24 Parganas district, while taking action against the smugglers, succeeded in seizing 5.23 kg of silver. However, in both the incidents the smugglers managed to escape. The seized silver jewelery was handed over to the concerned Police Station for further legal action.
