Har Ghar Tiranga: Indians change social media profile pictures to national flag

India celebrates seventy five year of Independence from the British rule. As a mark of tribute to the martyrs and respect to Mother earth, the Government of India initiated “Har Ghar Tiranga” under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to acknowledge the same.

Citizens are changing their social media display pictures to the National Flag as a virtual tribute to the country, following the call of PM Narendra Modi on his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat this week.

“Har Ghar Tiranga’ is a campaign under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to encourage people to bring the Tiranga home and to hoist it to mark the 75th year of India’s independence.

According to the official website of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, our relationship with the flag has always been more formal and institutional than personal. Bringing the flag home collectively as a nation in the 75th year of independence thus becomes symbolic of an embodiment of our commitment to nation-building as Indians.

Meanwhile, the idea behind the initiative is to invoke the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of the people and to promote awareness about the Indian National Flag.

“It is a special 2nd August today! At a time when we are marking Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, our nation is all set for Har Ghar Tiranga, a collective movement to celebrate our Tricolour. I have changed the DP on my social media pages and urge you all to do the same.”, reads a message by PM Narendra Modi today morning.
