On 27th August, 2022 under South Bengal Frontier, troops of Border Out Post Tarali, 112 Battalion thwarted smuggling attempts and apprehended 01 smuggler red handed with 5.220 Kgs of silver jewelery alongwith a motorcycle. The estimated value of the seized silver jewellery is 2,08,424/- rupees.
Acting on reliable information, the jawans noticed a suspicious red colored Glamor bike coming from Amudia and going towards Tarali village. On the basis of the information received, when the jawans stopped and searched it, silver jewelery was recovered from the air filter of the bike. He was taking these items from India to Bangladesh for the purpose of smuggling. The jawans soon confiscated the silver jewelery and took the smuggler into custody for questioning. The apprehended smuggler was identified as Asadul Ghazi, North 24 Parganas.
The apprehended smuggler and the seized silver have been handed over to Custom Office Tentulia for further legal action.
Shri Chandra Shekhar, officiating Commanding Officer of 112 Battalion stated that the Border Security Force is taking stringent action to check smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh Border. Due to which people involved in activities like smuggling are experiencing a lot of difficulties and some of them are getting apprehended, who are also being punished according to the law.
