The inaugural program began with a welcome address by Dr. Rajdeep Roy, MP, Silchar. The chair, chief guests, and the guests of honour addressed the gatherings.
Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati in his address thanked the organisers for honoring him to chair this historic session. He supported the idea of arranging a common platform where the delegates from the two friendly nations meet. He hoped that this kind of event would promote and strengthen the relationship between the two neighbouring countries. On the second day, Governor enlightened the delegates on how the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is transforming India and build a stronger than before relationship with Bangladesh under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He explained how important is the North East region in the implementation of India’s Act East Policy to better its relation with the ASEAN countries. He also highlighted the Kaladan Multi Modal Transit Transport Project(KMMTTP) under the Ministry Of External Affairs(MEA). Governor said that this project, once completed with open the door of business for North East through Mizoram. He also suggested that Bangladesh will be an important player in this corridor.
Silchar – Sylhet Festival 2022 is a festival organised jointly by the India Foundation and Ministry of Cultural Affair to strengthen the healthy relationship between India and Bangladesh. At the program, about 100 strong delegates of businessmen, politicians, and scholars from Bangladesh were led by their Foreign Minister. Day 2 of the Festival was also held successfully today at the same venue. The first Silchar – Sylhet Festival 2022 mainly focussed on the topic of Trade and Commerce but it also touched the subject like culture, food, language & literature, and the shared interest in our rivers and the climate.
