Debutant Keswani hits 244 as Bengal U-25 thrash Mizoram

Riding on an outstanding 244 by debutant Yuvraj Keswani and some fine bowling, Bengal under-25 team outclassed Mizoram by an innings and 340 runs in the Col C K Nayudu Trophy at the Gokulbhai Somabhai Patel Stadium in Nadiad on Monday.

Starting again their innings on the second day from overnight score of 279 for no loss, the batting duo of Keswani and Ranjot Singh Kharia (185) didn’t let the opposition stage a comeback. They added another 97 runs in the morning before Ranjot fell.

But Keswani kept on playing his natural game and brought up his double century in style.

After his dismissal, Kazi Junaid Saifi (29) and Gaurav Chauhan (2) remained unbeaten as Bengal declared with score at 462/2.

Already trailing by a huge 373 runs in their second innings, Mizoram were in trouble once again after losing half their side with just 25 on the board. Failing to implement themselves with the bat, Mizoram’s innings folder for just 33 in 25.3 overs.

Prayas Ray Barman (4-9), Kaushik Maity (2-4), Debopratim Halder (2-7), Amrit Raj Upadhyay (1-0) and Sandipan Das (1-4) impressed with the ball for Bengal.
