Three days long ASOMI Bhogali Mela inaugurated in Cachar

Three days long ASOMI Bhogali Mela is organized in the Cachar district. This fair is organized by the District Mission Management Unit of Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission for the third time.

Bhogali Mela is however organized for the very first time by this organization. The fair was inaugurated by the president of the Zilla Parishad Cachar and was accompanied by various dignitaries and government officials. They said the fair is an attempt by the Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Government of Assam to create a platform for the rural self-help group women to sell and display their endangered products in the urban market and to increase the income of the rural women through such an initiative.

Two stalls were given from each of the 15 blocks in the Cachar district which means the total number of stalls was 30 and add two to three traditional food stalls.

A special attraction at the fair was the organic vegetable stalls from the Silchar Development Block.

On Tuesday, the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar visited at the fair and visited all the stalls.

This fair will continue till January 12 at the Hashi Khushi Bhawan Silchar.
