On 11 Feb’ 2023, vigilant troops of 115 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier apprehended an Indian smuggler with 03 gold biscuits having weight 349.89 Grams. The estimated value of seized gold is Rs 19,76,877/-.
On the basis of reliable information, on 11 Feb’ 2023 at about 1040 hrs, BSF jawans on duty noticed a suspicious person namely Habil Sheikh roaming on the border, who was trying to bring gold biscuits from Bangladesh to India by hiding them in his rectum. While thorough search of the person, BSF troops recovered a small packet containing 03 Gold biscuits. The jawans immediately caught the smuggler along with the seized gold.
During preliminary questioning, the smuggler revealed that he reveieved these gold biscuits from a Bangladeshi smuggler namely Azom, r/o Nawabganj, District-Chapai. It was to be handed over to a person namely Mekeil , r/o Kathakali, India. For which he would have got Rs 1500/-.
Public Relations Officer of South Bengal Frontier stated that smugglers adopt different tactics to carry out smuggling activities. BSF personnel are guarding the borders 24×7 and are committed to stop all kinds of smuggling activities across the border. Due to which people involved in trans-border crimes are being caught continuously.
