On February 15, 2023, BSF troops detained a passenger with medicines at ICP Ghojadanga, located on the Indo-Bangladesh International Border. The total value of the seized medicines is approximately Rs.1,54,537/-.
BSF personnel of the 153 Battalion apprehended the passenger at 1330 hrs while conducting a search near the passenger gate at ICP Ghojadanga.
During preliminary questioning, the apprehended passenger revealed that he is a farmer from Chattogram, Bangladesh. He had come to India on February 9, 2023, for treatment of his leg. He had bought these medicines from a medicine store in India, which he intended to sell in Bangladesh for a good profit.
The passenger caught with the seized medicines has been handed over to the Custom Office PU Ghojadanga.
The Public Relations Officer of South Bengal Frontier stated that smugglers adopt different tactics to carry out smuggling activities. BSF personnel are guarding the borders 24×7 and are committed to stopping all sorts of smuggling activities across the border. As a result, people involved in crimes like smuggling are continuously being caught.
