The pan North East Car Rally, “Purvottar Bharat Parikrama”, that commenced from Fort Williams, Kolkata on 22 Mar reached Siliguri on 23 Mar and was flagged off by Lt Gen VPS Kaushik, GOC Trishakti Corps on 24 Mar 23 for its onwards journey across North Bengal and Sikkim.
The pan North East Car Rally, covering all capital cities of North East States, is being organised by Eastern Command, Indian Army to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The initiative aims reaching out to the youth, freedom fighters, gallantry award winners and many more to share their experiences and to develop a meaningful connection for inclusive development of India.
The rally comprises of 38 members, 10 vehicles, covering approximately 5000 km over 20 days across all the North East states. It aims to augment bonhomie with local populace and highlight the cultural heritage of North East India to the world.
The car rally promises a positive outcome on the masses by channelising the thought process towards spirit of independent India, National Integration and build an inclusive mindset in local youth. As part of the Parikrama, several events have been planned which include paying homage to Freedom Fighters and Fallen Heroes, information campaign on avenues to join Indian Army, motivational lectures by the gallantry award recipients, medical camps in far flung areas and outreach program for youth, students, families of the fallen heroes, Ex-Servicemen and Veer Naris.
Event as part of the national project of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” is being conducted in collaboration with North East council (NEC) under the Department of North Eastern Region (DoNER).
