Foiling the plans of smugglers, BSF troops under South Bengal Frontier seized 15 Kgs of Ganja and 493 bottles of Phensedyl from different areas on the India-Bangladesh border.
On 30th March 2023, at about 2340 hrs, the troops of Border Out Post Dobila, 153 Battalion, observed suspicious movement of some smugglers in either sides of the International Boundary. To thwart the smuggling attempts, when the jawans started advancing towards the smugglers, they fled from the spot by taking advantage of darkness, dense bamboo bushes and habitation. During thorough search of the area, Jawans recovered 15 Kgs Ganja and 99 bottles of Phensedyl from the spot.
Apart from this, troops of Border Out Post Rangiyapota, 82 Battalion, Border Out Post Nawada, 70 Battalion, Border Out Post M S Pur, 70 Battalion seized a total of 394 bottles of Phensedyl from their responsibility area on the Border.
Seized Ganja and Phensedyl bottles have been handed over to concerned agencies for further legal action.
Expressing satisfaction over the success of the jawans, the spokesperson of the South Bengal Frontier stated that his jawans will not allow smuggling or any other kind of crime to take place on the border under any circumstances and will not spare the persons involved in it. To deter smuggling at the border, the Border Security Force keep vigilant and adopt various operational measures. He also stated that he has a great team to provide information related to smuggling, which keeps a close watch on the criminal activities happening in the border area.
