The BSF Jawans have foiled the plans of smugglers and seized Phensedyl and Ganja along the Indo-Bangladesh border in the districts of Nadia and North 24 Parganas. The South Bengal Frontier of the BSF confiscated 259 bottles of Phensedyl and 1 kilogram of Ganja that smugglers attempted to smuggle from India to Bangladesh. The estimated value of the seized Phensedyl bottles is Rs.54,674/-.
On May 3rd, 2023, Border Out Post Haldarpara, 54 Battalion troops spotted 2-3 smugglers carrying plastic bags and attempting to throw the goods over the border fence. The jawans followed them and asked them to stop, but the smugglers escaped into a dense mango orchard. However, the troops managed to seize 114 bottles of Phensedyl and 1 kilogram of Ganja during an intensive search of the area.
In two other incidents on the same day, Border Outposts Matiyari, 54 Battalion, and Dobarpara, Adhoc SB III Battalion seized 145 bottles of Phensedyl from their area of responsibility.
The seized goods were handed over to concerned agencies for legal proceedings.
A spokesman for BSF, South Bengal Frontier, expressed satisfaction with the jawans’ success, highlighting the border security force’s vigilant measures to combat smuggling. The BSF has an excellent team that keeps a close watch on criminal activities along the border and provides information on smuggling activities.
