Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Japanese H.E Mr. Fumio Kishida on 20 May 2023 on the sidelines of the G-7 Summit in Hiroshima.
This was their second meeting in 2023, following the visit of Prime Minister Kishida to India in March this year.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recalled that the Indian Parliament commemorated every year Hiroshima Day, and noted that Japanese diplomats were always present on the occasion.
The leaders discussed ways to synergise efforts of their respective G-20 and G-7 Presidencies. Prime Minister stressed the need to highlight the concerns and priorities of Global South.
Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi, in a tweet mentioned, “Forging stronger partnerships. PM Narendra Modi and Fumio Kishida PM of Japan held warm and productive talks. Discussed ways to synergise efforts of respective G-7 and G-20 Presidencies, and the need to highlight the voice of Gthe lobal South. Also exchanged views on contemporary regional developments and deepening cooperation in the Indo-Pacific.”
