BSF NABS BANGLADESHI PASSENGER SMUGGLING GANJA AT INDO-BANGLADESH BORDER

The BSF troops, in their area of responsibility on Indo-Bangladesh border under South Bengal Frontier, apprehended a Bangladeshi passenger attempting to smuggle 600 grams of Ganja from India to Bangladesh.

On May 30, 2023, the troops of Border Out Post Ghojadanga, 153 Battalion, during a routine check, discovered and seized 600 grams of Ganja hidden in the undergarments of a Bangladeshi passport holder. The individual has been identified as Ashiq Iqbal Khan Mandal from Khulna District, Bangladesh.

During the interrogation, the Bangladeshi passenger disclosed that he arrived in India on May 17 with a valid visa. After reaching India, he stayed at his friend Joy Mali’s house in Barrackpore, North 24 Parganas. He further revealed that on May 30, he obtained the ganja from his friend Joy Mali for Rs 3,000, intending to sell it at a higher price in Bangladesh. However, he was apprehended by the BSF jawans at the checking point.

The apprehended individual and the seized contraband were handed over to the Basirhat Police Station for further legal action.

The Commanding Officer of the 153 Battalion expressed satisfaction with the success of the BSF jawans and emphasized that the Border Security Force remains vigilant in preventing smuggling activities at the border.In strong words, he emphasized that the jawans would not tolerate any form of smuggling or crime along the border and would spare no effort in apprehending those involved.
