Swagat Superspeciality Hospital, Maligaon, Guwahati gets allotment of two seats per year for Diploma in Anesthesiology by the National Board of Examinations.
National Board of Examinations (NBE) is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (India) Government of India and established in 1975 at New Delhi as a Society to standardizing postgraduate medical education and examination in India with the prime objective of improving the quality of Medical Education by establishing high and uniform standards of postgraduate examinations in modern medicine on All India basis. The postgraduate degree awarded by the National Board of Examinations is called the Diplomate of National Board (DNB).
Seeing the needs of the society, the National Board of Examination has introduced the NBEMS Diploma courses for the year 2024 and in the subjects of Anaesthesiology, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Family Medicine, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology (ENT), Radio Diagnosis, Tuberculosis & Chest Disease and these qualifications are recognized medical qualification approved by the Government of India.
There are few private hospitals and Institutes in northeast India that meet up the criteria to be recognized as a centre of teaching the postgraduate students. With the increasing population many more specialists are needed to bridge the gap of doctor patient ratio as there is always a dearth of specialist in our country said Prof. Subhash Khanna, the Chairman of Swagat Hospitals.
Swagat has been providing Fellowship courses in Minimal Access Surgery in affiliation with the “Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences” in the past.
The teaching Department of Anesthesiology of Swagat Hospitals shall be run by the team of Anesthetist consisting of Dr. Kanineeka Das, Dr. Angkita Barman, Dr. Ayushman Khanna and Dr. Pronoy Saikia .
