SMUGGLING ATTEMPTS FOIL; JAWANS SEIZE 709 PHENSEDYL BOTTLES AND GANJA AT THE BORDER

(District- Murshidabad, North 24 Parganas & Malda)

BSF jawans under South Bengal Frontier seized 709 bottles of Phensedyl and 04 kg of Ganja from their area of ​​responsibility on Indo-Bangladesh border which smugglers were trying to cross from India into Bangladesh. The estimated value of the seized Phensedyl bottles is Rs.1,48,395/-.

On June 01, 2023, troops of Border Outpost Sagarpara, 141 Battalion jawans saw 3-4 smugglers moving towards the Border fence taking support of darkness and bushes and were about to throw plastic bags over the fence. When the jawans started moving towards the smugglers with the aim of thwarting the smuggling attempts, the smugglers fled from the spot taking advantage of the tall grass and darkness. During the intensive search of the area, the jawans recovered 531 bottles of Phensedyl from the spot.

Apart from this, in other incidents on the same day, troops of Border Outposts Narsripada, 141 Battalion, Asharidah, 35 Battalion, Sovapur, 115 Battalion and Khalsi, 153 Battalion seized 178 bottles of Phensedyl and 04 kg of Ganja from their area of ​​responsibility.

The apprehended smugglers and the seized goods were handed over to the concerned agencies for further legal action.

A spokesperson of BSF, South Bengal Frontier expressed happiness over the achievement of the BSF jawans and stated that the Border Security Force always maintains vigilance to prevent smuggling on the border. He also added that BSF has an efficient team to provide information related to smuggling, which keeps a close watch on the criminal activities happening in the border area.
